Some where a long the way... I started using Facebook more than blogging.
I'm not sure it was the wisest thing because I cannot look back at all of the fun things my kids say easily. When I get my yearly reminders I see them but that's all.

I have some regret about that.

Here's a picture of the kids from January at Elsie's soccer game. I find that I am clinging to every moment now that I have a child that is going to graduate high school in May. Oddly, I am not sad.  I cannot pinpoint the feeling. I am not sad because the future is exciting. But, at the same time the change in our family unit is powerful. It's powerful but it's natural. I hope I handle it well. I savor these moments of togetherness.

Dying for cooler weather

My kids say weird things in Florida. We've lived in Florida a little over a year. I thought my kids would love it but my kids are continually underhandedly complaining about living here. Just this morning...

14 year old: "Hey Momma, is anyone going to die this year?"

Me: "WHAT?"

14 year old: "Well, if they live somewhere else and they die this year we may be able to go somewhere with cooler weather."


It is Oct 2nd and it is going to be 87 degrees today.

20 years from now

"I hope the only difference between me now and me 20 years from now is that I know more stuff. Also, I want to be taller."

"Momma, I'm extremely fond of bending paperclips." (T)
"Why are smiling like you are laughing?"

"Well, it's just the words you used. You didn't just say, I like to bend paperclips." (M)

"Oh. That's because I've decided I am going to start using more of the vocabulary that I see in the books I read." (T)

"Momma is shrinking. Jonathan is now taller than her."

Momma: "Do you think winning at chess is a good indication of a good president?"

Super Hero Day

This week is spirit week at Thomas and Elsie's school. Tomorrow is Super Hero Day. Elsie cannot think of anything she wants to wear, despite my suggestions.

"Momma, I only know of two super heroes and I cannot dress like them. The only two real super heroes I know are God and Jesus."

Gross Stuff

Yesterday David (age 10) brought home a form from school for me to sign about the S.H.A.R.E  (Sexuality, Health, and Responsiblity Education) Program at school.

"You have to sign this. I don't want to go to it." (David)

"Why not?" (Momma)

"Because Daddy already talked to me about all of that gross stuff and I don't want to talk about it at school." (David)

"David, do not wake me up in the morning. And if you do, RUN."
