Friday Photos: Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we went to the pumpkin patch. Actually... we ended up going to 2 different pumpkin patches. We went to the 1st one because my MOPS group was going there. We had a lot of fun going through the corn maze. We were not very excited about the pumpkin selection. On the way back to our little town, we stopped at another pumpkin patch. This one had lots of activites (including chickens to watch, corn to play in, an apple launch and corn shoot). We thought the pumpkins were too expensive there so we just enjoyed all of the activities and then got some pumpkins at Walmart. Pretty funny, really! We had a great day even though we went to 2 pumpkin patches and came away empty handed. I took a TON of pictures. Here are some of the best ones.

Family Photo

This photo of us was taken Saturday. We were on a hayride at the pumpkin patch. When I previewed the picture after it was taken, I thought the picture was awesome. Now that I look at it, I don't really think it is that great of a picture. (We were facing the sun. All of the kids had a hard time looking at the camera.) It is just awesome anytime we can get a picture of all of us!

Friday Photos

Yesterday, the boys had a ton of fun painting pumpkins. It was a delight to see the different ways they painted.

Three boys and a bunch of paint... this was bound to happen.

Elisabeth was asleep during the pumpkin painting. I took these pictures of her this morning. Mostly, she just wanted to chew on the stem of her pumpkin.

Thomas is not cute

Momma: "Thomas, you are cute"
Thomas: "No, Momma, I am NOT cute!"
Momma: "Why not?"
Thomas: "Girls are cute. Boys are handsome."
Momma: "I thought girls were pretty."
Thomas: "Girls are cute and pretty. I am a boy and I am handsome."

Sunday Snapshots

Jonathan lost a tooth this week. The tooth was pretty loose so Jonathan decided Daddy could pull it. David and Thomas were standing by to watch. Jonathan was excited and nervous. Daddy wiggled it a bunch and pulled on it some. Then suddenly, Jonathan told him to "Stop!" He said, "I'll do it MYSELF." Then, he just popped it out. He was so, so, sooooo proud that he pulled his own tooth.

Elisabeth was busy with teeth this week, too. She got her second tooth in. I have to add that Jonathan thought it was really cool that the tooth Elisabeth got in was the same tooth that he lost! Here's a picture of Elisabeth showing off her tooth. The one she got in has just barely come through her gums, so of course, you cannot see it yet.

Thomas plays the least with Elisabeth. He is usually too busy. I captured this sweet moment of him showing her magnets.

I have been meaning to post these pictures for quite some time. These are Elisabeth's 9 month pictures. (She will be 11 months on Oct 17th.)

Ms., Mrs., Mr., and What?

Janey was explaining the difference between Ms. and Mrs. to one of the boys. Here is the conversation paraphrased (as is my tradition) in order to make it funnier...

Janey- "So when a woman is not married, she is Miss. Like before I was married, I was Miss Queen. Then after I got married I became Mrs. Owen."

David- "What happens when a man gets married?"

Seth- "Well, before he is married, people call him Mister, like Mr. Owen. Then after he is married, people call him poor, like Poor Mr. Owen."

I don't think David understood any better, but Jonathan laughed really hard!

You know you are in the NW when...

You know you are in the north west when you have this conversation with your 7 year old:

Jonathan: "Momma, I think today is actually the first day of Fall."

Momma: "Why's that?"

Jonathan: "It is the first really rainy wet day."

Beautiful Momma

This week I received the highest compliment from my 5 year old.

David: "Momma, you are more beautiful than Princess Leia!"

Now that makes me smile.
