Friday Photos

*updated with even more photos*

This past week was packed with fun! First off, Seth and I celebrated 13 years of marraige. We also went to Washington to see friends and celebrate a birthday. I took so many (over a hundred) digital pictures! I actually teared up as I looked through all of the pictures I took and all of the fun we had. I am so thankful for family fun...and friends.

Our friends rented a blow up slip and slide for their daughter's birthday. The kids loved it! The adults had a blast.
The birthday girl, Anah, taking a turn.

Here is Daddy and Jonathan taking a turn.

Here is Thomas getting in the water for the 1st time. Boy it was COLD!

Here is Jane Anne and Kim trying it out.

By the end of the day, the kids were focused on the trampoline and the adults were being crazy on the slide. This picture is of Seth and Martin jumping over Jane Anne and Kim.

One side note: David is going through a very cautious phase. He did not play in the slip n slide. He managed to get on it only once right before it was taken down. (But Momma missed it.)

Here is David on the trampoline with Daddy.

Alright... my sweet baby girl needs me. I will try to post the rest of the pictures I am planning to share later today.

**Okay, I am back to post pictures. Elsie is in bed and the boys are enjoying backyard camping. (Oh yes, I snuck out there to get a smore!)

Here is a picture of Kim and I after our slip and slide adventure.

Here is a picture of Elsie - just hanging out in an exersaucer during the party.

Here are a couple of pictures of Seth playing the Wii with Keith and Martin.

Here is a picture of me with some of my best girl friends.

Here's a picture of Jonathan with some friends after attending one day of Sports Camp.

It takes 2

I had been listening to my boys fight all morning. So, I decided to try help them think through the choices they were making. This is how it went with Jonathan:

Momma: I am hearing a lot of arguing from all of you. There are so many things you could be doing, I'd think you would enjoy something else.
Jonathan: I haven't been doing anything!
Momma: It takes 2 to argue.
Jonathan Yes! David and Thomas.

Elisabeth is 8 months old

Elisabeth is 8 months old today. She is such a joy! Here is a little bit about her:

Her nickname is Elsie and we call her that as much as we call her Elisabeth. She has just started sitting. She crawls everywhere! She likes to chase balls that the boys roll for her. She does not have any teeth yet. She is very attached to her blankie. She also likes her pacifier a bunch. One of her new games is trying to put the paci in Momma's mouth. She really enjoys grabbing Jonathan's glasses. She is very entertained by her brothers. They love to dance and sing to her to make her smile.

These pictures were taken this morning.

Deep Thoughts from Thomas

Yesterday as I was getting the boys to clean up their room, Thomas and I had this conversation:

Thomas: Momma, I wish our house was made of pizza and hotdogs.
Momma: Really? Why?
Thomas: So, I could eat it. I would eat it all up... but not the people. I wouldn't eat you up.

Friday Photos

These pictures were taken yesterday at the barber shop. Our boys had not had haircuts for quite some time. We had been attempting to cut their hair at home. Dad's haircuts were not being met with enthusiasm and so they were happening less and less frequently.

This is probably one of the-- if not the-- last time I can take pictures of all of my boys getting haircuts. I believe Jonathan was a bit embarrassed. Seth also seemed embarrassed to take pictures (I had to have him snap the ones of David).

A little haircut history: David HATES to get his haircut. It is really, really rough. He doesn't like getting hair all over him and he doesn't like the trimmers (especially anywhere near his ears). We bring him an extra shirt so that he can change as soon as his hair is cut. Momma stands next to him and holds his chin. This is to help calm him and to try to keep him still. Our current barber (Dennis) commented yesterday that David is improving. It is true. He has a long way to go but he is a lot better than he used to be. He didn't cry and scream much. As soon as he was done, he was as happy as he could be. Right after the haircuts, we walked across the parking lot to the grocery store and each boy got to pick out some candy. (This was the bribe from the beginning...in part because we wanted to encourage good behavior and also because the barber hands out quarters for candy at the candy machines...machines that have dangerous candy like reeces pieces.)

Without further rambling, here are the barber shop pictures...

Check back soon- I am planning on posting some 4th of July photos.

Momma: "oooooohhhhh, I have a gooood idea!"
Thomas: "What!?"
Momma: "How about I go make some rice krispy treats?!"
Thomas: "Yes. Then, I will dip them in Ketchup."

A Couple of Recent Owen Moments

Moment 1:

David: "Momma, Where is Heaven?"
Thomas: "I know! I know! It is in God Town."

Moment 2:

Daddy (in quiet voice): "Oh, I am dead. I am sooo dead."
This was said as he was trying to show off the frog he captured earlier that morning to some company (kids and adults). The frog had been kept in a covered dish in his office. The dish was empty. The frog was located in the office and promptly let back out into the yard.

Homemade Popsicles

We are enjoying a lot of homemade popsicles this summer. Here's a picture of Thomas enjoying a new treat: Pudding Pops. (Thanks Carmen, for this great idea!)
