Every day Seth is getting more and more nervous about Elisabeth's arrival. I think (but he would have to confirm this) that a lot has to do with being in a new town without the awesome friend support network we had in Washington. I also think his nerves will calm down once my parents arrive. In the meantime, he is driving himself crazy and I am getting a lot of extra ("how are you feeling") attention.
Seth quote of the Day:
"I am sooo nervous. What's wrong with me?? I have been in a WAR!"

Sleep-peeing
I know at least once when I was young I got out of bed and went to the bathroom and when I opened my eyes, I was nowhere near the bathroom, but, say, in the kitchen filling up the trashcan. I remember on occasion that at least two of my brothers did the same thing. Now, I can proudly say, I have been on the other side of the exchange. Tonight just after watching the Rockies lose Game 4 of the World Series, I heard one of the boys walking around upstairs. I waited and then walked up to see what was going on. The boys dorm room door was open so I walked in to do a bed check. David- check. Thomas- check. Jonathan- nope. 1 Missing In Action. I walked into Elisabeth's room. No Jonathan. I walked into Momma's Sanctuary (her craft room). There stood Jonathan with his underwear around his thighs peeing on the television. I spoke his name. He jumped and looked at me and looked around bewildered. Then I carried him into the bathroom where he finished putting out forest fires. When I carried him into his room, he started laughing. I asked him what was so funny and he said, "grumphiujng jerdinction frunctural." He was definitely still asleep and I didn't get the joke.

When the Baby Comes
This morning as the boys were playing I asked them what they are going to do when the baby comes.
Jonathan's answer: (he answers as he runs over and jumps on Daddy) "I am going to wrestle with Daddy ALL THE TIME!"
David's answer: (with the sweetest smile on his face) "I am going toooo take care of her."

The Logical End and Object Lessons
Jonathan has an amazing mind and I love how it works. He is a very logical thinker; in his mind he takes things to their logical end. He was talking to David about God. He said, "God is in my heart. God is in my skin. I am God." David argued that God is in his heart, but God is God, not Jonathan. It sounded like a debate that would happen on a college campus between a Christian and a modern religion major, and just about as well-formed. I took Jonathan aside and grabbed a glass from the cabinet in the kitchen. The conversation went like this...
Daddy: "Jonathan, what is this?"
Jonathan: "A cup."
Daddy: fills the cup with water. "Now what is it?"
Jonathan: "A cup with water in it."
Daddy: "Are you sure its not just all water now?"
Jonathan: "No. Its a cup."
Daddy: Pours water out "Now?"
Jonathan: "just a cup"
I explained that the cup is like him and the water is like God. You are made to have God in you, but you are still you with or without Him; but you aren't very useful if you don't have God in you (like an empty cup).
Moments like that I LOVE being a daddy.
Interrupting Thomas
We were having quite a rough dinner. The menu was complete with some complaining, crying, and screaming kids.
Daddy and Momma were at their wits end when this quick exhange made us laugh.
David was trying to talk to Momma and Daddy but Thomas kept crying (throwing a fit about not getting what he wanted).
David: (at the top of his voice) "Thomas is INTERRRUPTING!
Thomas: (gives David his angry face) "Me NOT rupting!!! Me Thomas!"

Thomas moves to a Bed
On Sunday Thomas moved out of his crib into a "Big Boy Bed." He was really excited and didn't seem to have a second thought about moving out of his crib. We transitioned him to a Toddler bed in part because we couldn't decide if we wanted to get him his own twin bed or buy a set of bunk beds. The Toddler bed seems to be the perfect transition bed for him. He was very, very excited when Seth was putting together the bed. He loves Thomas the Train and was thrilled with his new Thomas bedding. After the bed was put together, he just wanted to be in it. He got in it and told us to turn off the light! It was quite cute. Of course, with all of the excitement he didn't really fall asleep for naptime that day. Bed time went well and I had to sneak in and take a few pictures of him sleeping.
Two nights later (Tuesday night) Seth and I went in to check on the boys and found Thomas sound asleep on the floor of the room. I am not sure how he got there (fell and then rolled or got out of bed and then went to sleep) but he was sleeping really hard. I was able to pick him up and put him back in his bed without him even noticing (not to mention snap this picture with the flash on!).
